As an Inner Child Advocate people tell me that their issues today have nothing to do with their childhood. They say, “That was so long ago, plus I’ve done so much work on it …”
Then after their first session they are shocked at how much energy about “long ago, forgotten inner child issues” have been controlling their lives subconsciously all along.
EFT is an amazing way to find and clear them once and for all!
I’m reminded of the story that I learned from advocacy training back when I was the Director of a statewide non-profit organization…
There was a quiet and uneventful little town next to a river…
One night one of the towns people were walking next to the river and a baby was floating down the river. He ripped off his coat and jumped in and saved the baby.
The next day someone saw 2 babies floating down the river. Again, someone jumped in to rescue the babies.
The next day, 4 babies… then 8 babies… then 16…
As caring and efficient as the townspeople were, they set up a HUGE rescue operation.
They brought divers from the neighboring town to dive into the water and rescue the babies. They organized social workers to provide much needed adoption services and counseling. Local church groups created sewing circles and made blankets and clothes for the babies. The pastors blessed the operation and they talked about it in their sermons on Sundays.
Life went on…
The rescue operation became a very important part of life in the little town.
One night at the town council meeting someone stood up and proposed that they put together a team of people and go upstream to find out where the babies were coming from. The Mayor said, “Oh, that’s a great idea. However, we can’t spare anyone, everyone is needed here!”
The person said, “Don’t you see, if we went up stream and found out where the babies are coming from, we could stop the problem at the source.“
A town council member said, “No! No! We can’t spare a single person — if we pull anyone away from the rescue operation babies will drown. We need everybody here.”
And so the proposal was defeated. The townspeople never went up stream and found where the babies were coming from and they continued the very good work of rescuing babies. They rescued many babies but many, many more drowned.
As with our emotional wounds we keep trying to mask them with alcohol, anti-depressants, smoking, over eating, high risk behavior, over working, shopping, etc. but we never go in to see what is causing the pain that we are desperately trying to mask.
